Water Leaking From Fridge

Water Leaking From Fridge

My refrigerator leaks (Water Leaking From Fridge) a puddle of water onto the floor. This water leakage case is intermittent and does not happen all the time. The water puddle is about 5 inches in diameter. Most of the time the water puddle is under the fridge and close to the front door. When the fridge leaks a small puddle in this way, does it reflect a specific issue?

If your refrigerator intermittently leaks water, the problem may be caused by high humidity or leaving the refrigerator door open for a long time. A clogged defrost drain tube causes water to flow and leak from the bottom of the refrigerator.

Read all the information below to understand what may be causing the water to leak from your refrigerator … Is there water under the drawer in the fridge? Water under the refrigerator drawer

Common Reasons Why A Fridge Leaves Water…
1. The door of the fridge was left open for an excessive amount of time.
2. High humidity weather results in excessive moisture.
3. Defrost drain tube is full and overflowing.
4. Water line or inlet valve leak at the back of the refrigerator.

Safety notice: Before any maintenance, remove the power supply to the refrigerator.

1. Refrigerator door left open
If the refrigerator door was left open for a long time, the refrigerator slowly forms water due to the hot air. This can affect the evaporator system and cause leakage.

Solution: Do not leave the fridge door open for a long time.
(If your modern refrigerator has an alarm that signals when the door is open for an excessive period of time, turn it on using the control panel.)

2. High humidity season
Excess water in the air may accumulate along with existing water in the fridge and cause leakage. Water leakage from the refrigerator is a common issue on extreme humidity days.

Solution: Clean the drain pan to aid heat transfer so that the water evaporates rapidly. This speeds up evaporation and will reduce or eliminate the problem of water leakage.

3. Defrost drain tube filled / frozen
Modern refrigerators equipped with automatic defrost systems use a drain tube that allows water to flow into the drain pan under the fridge. Once the water evaporates back into the air in the drain pan. The heated compressor sits on top of the motor and helps the drained water evaporate. This helps to heat the water and speed up the evaporation process. If the refrigerator drain tube closes or the water gets blocked, the water goes nowhere, but causes water leaks.

Solution: Find the drain hole in the back of your fridge. Clean the drain hole using a turkey buster filled with hot water (usually located on the back wall of the freezer). Once the drain hole is cleared and free of any obstruction, you will hear water flowing down and into the drain.

We recommend cleaning the drain hole every 6 months to prevent water leakage.

(Some refrigerators require a screw to be removed to go into the defrost drain hole. A plastic panel is held in place by a screw. Remove the screw and panel and the defrost drain hole will arrive.)

How to Allot Refrigerator Drain Line

4. Water line / water inlet valve leakage
The water line connecting the back of the refrigerator may be damaged or loose and may cause water leakage. The water inlet valve where the water line connects to the back of the refrigerator may also have a slight leakage that causes a trickle of water.

Solution: Separate the fridge with electricity and slide it out of the wall. Do not take out the water line while sliding from the fridge. Use a flashlight and check if there is any leakage in the waterline or water valve. If any leaks are found, either tighten the leaking area or remove and replace parts or components as needed.

Can not find refrigerator water leak? If you suspect that the components near the back of the fridge are leaking, but are not seeing a clear water leak, place some paper towels under the components and wait a few minutes to see if any leaks appear. If the problem is a very slow water leak, you will need to give an extended time frame to know where the leak is located. Once you identify the leak, repair or replace the component that is leaking. Continue testing for leaks to ensure repair of refrigerator leaks.
